BVSc MS PGCertSc.

Equine Orthopaedic Research Center
Colorado State University

Dr. Frances Peat is an equine veterinarian based in the United States, at the Equine Orthopaedic Research Center and Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Colorado State University. Here, Frances completed a three-year specialist training program in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, working on referral cases with a team of 8 specialists in equine sports medicine and helping to run a rehabilitation centre for performance horses from across the U.S. As part of her training, Frances also spent time working with specialists in the U.K., Kentucky, Washington and Florida. Frances is now a postdoctoral fellow at the Orthopaedic Research Center, where she is currently working on a PhD in developmental orthopaedics and diagnostic imaging in young Thoroughbreds. Prior to moving to the States, Frances practised as an equine veterinarian in the Waikato for 5 years. She was the 2010 recipient of the NZERF’s Waikato Stud Young Achiever of the Year Award and in 2015 was named the NZERF Prof Cliff Irvine Memorial Scholar.
