This year we have chosen a theme to help horse people understand more about training the athletic horse. We have invited Dr Nigel Perkins, who has recently completed the first comprehensive study of racing horses in New Zealand, to talk on the amazing new information that came out of this survey. He will also review the common injuries that our horses sustain in our competitive environment and their cost to our industry. He will also look at where technology will take us in training our horses in the next 20 years. No one associated with the training of horses can afford to miss this great opportunity to gain a greater understanding of our competitive horse’s problems and what technology can do for us. Dr. Perkins will also discuss the possible risks of inbreeding associated with Artificial Insemination and other reproductive technologies. He will be supported by Drs Lee Morris and David Hanlon who will talk on the latest developments in reproductive technology.
